Shaftesbury, Melbury Abbas and Cann Neighbourhood Plan

STATEMENT ON BEHALF OF SHAFTESBURY TOWN COUNCIL & MELBURY ABBAS & CANN PARISH COUNCIL

Working together over the last three years has given both parishes a new and better understanding of the challenges that each one faces, and there has been a great deal of knowledge and experience shared between the two.

The parishes share many issues, but the rural and urban differences between the two are distinct and both parishes will be considering whether these are better addressed by separate plans that set robust policies to preserve these aspects in a more focused way.

The Council is now looking at holding an Extraordinary Full Council meeting on 18th July, where the Council will be asked to decide whether it wishes to produce a neighbourhood plan. That meeting will be a convened meeting of the Council and open to members of the press and public to attend if they wish.
