I fell in love with Shaftesbury when stopping for lunch on a journey from London to Devon sixteen years ago, moved here on a whim, and feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful town. I soon became involved with various local associations and am now a Trustee and committee member of Shaftesbury Town Twinning; a member of the local Fair Trade group; Secretary of, and a reader for, Shaftesbury Talking Newspaper; an active member of St James’s Church, where I am a verger at weddings and funerals, and a committee member of the Royal British Legion. Now retired, my working life has been mainly as a Secretary/P/A in various companies including manufacturing, legal and public relations. Having brought up three sons on my own, I hope I can appreciate the needs of younger people and like to be involved in projects which will benefit future generations. I believe the town folk of Shaftesbury should be consulted on major projects.

I love the theatre and cinema and support Shaftesbury Arts Centre whenever I can. I take a keen interest in Open House, Shaftesbury, and attend coffee mornings where I offer friendship. I am Secretary of Tavistock School Reunion Association for which I help to organise a reunion once a year and produce an annual magazine for 150 members. I have three sons, two in south London and one in Worthing, and two young granddaughters, and spent time with them as often as I am able. Having lived in various parts of the country, I enjoy keeping in touch with old friends by letter-writing.
