A parish poll has been called by some members of the Shaftesbury Community, this is not a Shaftesbury Town Council initiative.
The poll was demanded at a parish meeting called by six individuals, the cost of several thousand pounds for the poll will be borne by the town’s tax payers and the outcome of the poll is not binding on the Town Council. The outcome of the poll will support the town council in its decision-making process.

A Judicial Review is a form of court proceeding in which a judge reviews the lawfulness of a decision or action by a public body. http://publiclawproject.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/data/resources/6/PLP_Short_Guide_3_1305.pdf , that decision being one taken by North Dorset District Council Cabinet of 23rd April 2018.
