Macmillan Coffee Morning

From moist chocolate cakes to airy Victoria sponges and gooey flapjacks, the cake table at the Town Hall in Shaftesbury saw a huge variety of treats thanks to generous donations from local people and businesses in Shaftesbury.

Friday September the 28th 2018 was the first time that Shaftesbury Town Council has taken part in the ever growing ‘World’s biggest Coffee Morning’ fundraiser for Macmillan, and hopefully we will see the Shaftesbury Town Council effort grow from now on!

This year the coffee morning held at the Town hall raised a total of £282.76 and was supported by both Councillors and the office team.

Councillor Lester Taylor took the lead in organising the event along with Councillor Jeanne Loader, spreading the word throughout the town and asking for cakes and volunteers. Suzanne who works locally took a day off from her usual work at Co-operative Funeral Care, to come and help for which all involved are hugely grateful.

The star of the show has to be the Victoria sponge made by Mayor, Piers Brown, well done!

The Council would like to extend a huge thank you for all who took part and is looking forward to organising one next year.
