TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF PUBLIC BRIDLEWAY 38,
(WINCOMBE LANE), SHAFTESBURY
DORSET COUNTY COUNCIL has made an Order under Section 14  of the Road Traffic Regulations Act 1984, as amended. All bridleway users (horses, bicyclists, pedestrians) will be prohibited from proceeding along Public Bridleway 38, (Wincombe Lane), Shaftesbury, from grid reference ST 8671123222 (point A on the map below) to grid reference ST 8679323291 (Point B on the map below), a distance of approximately 105 metres. The order is needed to comply with Health and Safety Regulations, which require the provision of safe working areas and to minimise the likelihood of danger to Highway Users. It came into operation on Monday 21 May 2018, for a period of 6 months. It is now anticipated that the works will commence on Monday 04 June 2018, and be completed by Sunday 22 July 2018.
The Order is required to allow Wessex Water safe access to install a new water main.
Alternative routes will be signed from point A head north west along Little Content Lane to N1/3. Head North east until meet Longmead. Head south east until junction of Wincombe Lane. Mike Harries, Director of Environment and the Economy, County Hall, DORCHESTER, Dorset, DT1 1XJ. Any person who uses or permits the use of the footpath in contravention of the order will be liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding £1000.
