Following the commissioning of the payment machine last month, we can now confirm that charges will apply in the newly revamped Coppice St car park from Monday 11th December.
The net income from this parking facility will be awarded to support local charitable organisations that have a positive impact across the Shaftesbury community via the annual grant awarding process.
Background to the project
Parking in Shaftesbury has been a challenge for many years, so following a lengthy process and in collaboration with Dorset Council and Tesco, Shaftesbury Town Council were awarded a lease for the Coppice St car park for an initial ten-year period.
Works to improve this car park and turn it into a long stay pay and display car parking provision for visitors and shoppers started in July 2023 and have now been completed.
Shaftesbury Football Club parking
High Street workers, business owners and residents looking for a more affordable parking option are able to purchase an annual permit to park at the recently developed long-stay car park at the rear of Shaftesbury Football Club.
Together with Coppice St, these car parks will generate an additional 55 long-stay spaces.
