How to vote

Please be aware that you now need photo ID to vote at a polling station.

If you don’t currently have a photo ID, you can apply for free voter ID here: Voter ID | Electoral Commission

You can vote in three ways:

  • in person at a polling station (please note that Dorset Council are currently asking residents to complete a survey about polling districts and polling places. The survey closes on Monday 13th November)
  • by post
  • by proxy

Dorset Council today published the Notice of Poll Situation and Polling Station for Shaftesbury.

8th April 2024

Dorset Council has today published the Statements of Persons Nominated for Shaftesbury Town Council.
The town is split into two wards – East and West.

The number of Councillors required for the West ward is seven and the number of nominations received is seven. Parish and town councils within the Dorset Council area – elections on 2 May 2024 (uncontested) – Dorset Council

 

The number of Councillors required for the East ward is eight and the number of nominations received is ten. Parish and town councils within the Dorset Council area – elections on 2 May 2024 – Dorset Council

 

In addition to the Town Council elections. there will also be elections for your local Dorset Council Councillor and the Police and Crime Commissioner. The statements of persons nominated are below.
