The work of the Full Council is supported by working groups, which are set up for specific purposes or to consider single issues in greater detail.
Working groups do not have decision-making authority but can report to and make recommendations to Full Council. Working group meetings are informal and members of the public can be invited to participate in meetings if they have a specific interest or involvement in the matters being discussed.
Minutes of all working group meetings are made public via the STC website and recommendations are presented to STC for consideration.
The following working groups are currently active:
- Sustainable Shaftesbury
- Playground Masterplan
- Mampitts Green
- Town Hall
- St James Park (Phase 1 complete, Phase 2 under way)
- High Street
Other working groups may be formed or re-convened as and when required.
