Mayoral Wing Walk
Our Mayor, Cllr Virginia Edwyn-Jones, is taking fundraising to new heights this spring with a very special challenge.
On Saturday 2nd May 2026, the Mayor will be performing a wing walk on a bi-plane at Compton Abbas Airfield to raise money for her chosen charity of the year, Shaftesbury Youth Club. Her aim is to raise at least £1,000 to help ensure young people in our town continue to benefit from the club’s facilities and activities.
While the Mayor won’t be wearing her robes or full regalia for the flight (for obvious reasons!), she is taking on this exciting challenge to support an organisation that provides valuable opportunities for the town’s young people.
Residents and supporters are warmly invited to donate through the JustGiving page to help reach the fundraising target. If you would like to see the spectacle in person, you can visit Compton Abbas Airfield on the day to watch the wing walk take place.
