St James’ Park – Jubilee Steps closed

As part of the ongoing improvements to St James’ Park, the Jubilee Steps will be closed from Monday 8th January as work to the handrail begins.

Heras fencing will be erected at the top and the bottom of the path, but the rest of the park will remain open. Residents/visitors are advised to use Gold Hill as an alternative access point.

The existing kee-klamp handrail will be removed and replaced with a new steel-forged handrail that will be in keeping with the historic setting of the park and be a much sturdier option.

We envisage that the work will take around four weeks to complete, but this is very much weather dependent.

We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for your understanding.
