Councillor Alex Chase

Despite having been born in Reading, Alex has lived in North Dorset on and off for nearly thirty years, though he only moved to Shaftesbury in 2017.

As a keen thespian, Alex has been heavily involved in Shaftesbury Arts Centre both on and off stage and was until recently a trustee. He stepped down from this position when it became apparent that he would not be able to juggle this with teacher training and his council commitments!

Having been first elected in 2019, Alex has been involved in council projects such as the resurfacing of the Coppice Street football pitch and the creation of the two new car parks on the land. He is committed to ensuring that the council continues to deliver on projects to improve the lives of Shaftesbury’s residents while providing value for taxpayers’ money
