Major Grant Moves Mampitts Community Hub Forward

Mampitts Community Hub takes major step forward with local charity grant

Shaftesbury Town Council has announced a significant funding boost for the Mampitts Community Hub project, following a substantial grant from the William Williams charity. The contribution marks a key milestone in the development, bringing the project closer to full funding ahead of a final investment decision. The new funding reduces the remaining financial gap to below £200,000.

Vision for the new Community Hub in Shaftesbury

The planned Mampitts Community Hub, located on Mampitts Lane, will create a central space for local residents by bringing together a wide range of services and facilities under one roof.
The hub will include:

  • A café for social connection
  • Flexible indoor and outdoor community spaces
  • Wellbeing activities
  • Family-focused programmes
  • Access to local services

The project is designed to support residents of all ages by fostering wellbeing, inclusion, and community engagement in a welcoming environment.

Funding progress and next steps

Shaftesbury Town Council has been actively seeking additional funding for the project. The grant from the William Williams charity represents a major step forward, significantly narrowing the funding gap. With less than £200,000 still required, the council is now encouraging additional contributions.

Chair of the Mampitts Advisory Committee and Deputy Mayor Cllr Greg Williams said,
“On behalf of the town council and the people of Shaftesbury, we are very grateful for this substantial donation from a fantastic local charity.
“With William Williams’ support, the project moves closer to being fully funded, with the gap between projected costs and funding now below £200,000.
“We would gratefully receive any further donations by the 22nd May as the town council gears up for the final investment decision.”

Funding contributions encouraged ahead of deadline

The council is inviting further donations to help close the remaining funding gap, with a deadline of 22nd May set for contributions to be considered in the next phase of decision-making. This final push for funding will play an important role in the next steps of the Mampitts Community Hub.

The Mampitts Community Hub is a key initiative to strengthen community life in Shaftesbury, with growing momentum as construction tenders are currently being evaluated.
