Councillor Annie Philpott

I have a passionate interest in ensuring Shaftesbury is a wonderful place to live and grow. I have lived in and around Shaftesbury for over ten years, my two children attend local state schools and I work from home running an international health organisation.

My professional journey as a health advisor started in Salisbury, but it has taken me far and wide, serving as a UK Diplomat, Civil Servant, and for international charities. These roles have meant I have dealt with difficult situations in a wide range of diverse places. I therefore have conflict and crisis management, budget handling and negotiation skills, all of which will be useful on the Town Council

I’ve been actively engaged in various volunteer initiatives within Shaftesbury. As a member of the Friends of Shaftesbury Swimming, I’m keen to keep our cherished Lido accessible to all. Whether delivering Christmas lunches to those unable to venture out or volunteering for the Shaftesbury C19 taskforce, I want to make a difference in our community.

I love the vibrant spirit of Shaftesbury, and have enthusiastically participated in local events, from the Carnival to the Cheese Race. Being a volunteer reporter for Alfred Radio has increased my appreciation for all the remarkable individuals locally. I also love exploring the landscapes close by, although running up Gold Hill is a special challenge!
