Councillor Jade Salkeld

Raised in Cornwall, I moved to Dorset to train and work as a registered nurse at Poole Hospital. Then in 2017, my husband and I moved our small family North to Shaftesbury, having just finished running a successful seaside guesthouse in Weymouth for 10 years. We wished to enjoy the countryside, which reminded me of my own childhood and Shaftesbury was a perfect fit.

Over the years, I have taken part in lots of local events and even organised my own. Inspired by the Dorchester group, I set up the first Shaftesbury Jumble Trail, which received lots of great feedback from East ward residents. I am also keen on encouraging young people and girls into STEM education and have recently worked with the local guides group, with an introduction to aviation.
