Councillor jenny daultrey
Our family moved to Dorset in 1986 to live in a village near Blandford. Our children attended local schools and I worked in both the maintained and independent sector until my retirement in 2012. I was a Parent Governor at QE School at Wimborne supporting the work of the Special Needs Department. I resigned from this post following the death of my husband in 2003.
In 2008 I became County Organiser for the Cottage Garden Society (a post I still hold) and our group has grown in numbers over the years to be the largest in the UK. In March 2025 I became a volunteer at Shaftesbury Abbey Museum and Gardens and have recently been appointed a Trustee, supporting the work of the volunteers.
In the latter part of my career I was involved in large capital building projects and at the same time witnessed the building of a new hall in our village. It was obvious to me how vital it was to get every detail of the project correct to ensure a good outcome achieving the required result. That is not necessarily an easy or straightforward challenge. I would be delighted to see a good facility for Shaftesbury in the building of a hall on Mampitts Green serving the community in many ways for years to come.
