Councillor Virginia Edwyn-Jones

I first visited Shaftesbury around 26 years ago when a good friend bought a house in Ashmore; it was then a huge coincidence to meet my future husband in London and discover this was where he had a weekend cottage.  Shaftesbury has been my home for the last 15 years and I have an interior design studio in the High Street, sharing an office with my husband Tim who is a surveyor.  I have always worked in creative fields, first in advertising, PR and marketing, then producing music to picture for the advertising industry before making a move into interiors nearly twenty years ago.  I still have continuing connections to music though as I sing with a large London choir, which I used to run voluntarily.

As soon as I started my new business in Dorset, I joined the Chamber of Commerce and I have been the Chair of the Chamber for the last three years, working for our fantastic business community and encouraging new business. As part of the Town’s Covid response team I was involved in many projects including the successful temporary pedestrianisation scheme and designing all the Safe to Shop posters we put up around town. I am also a member of the Neighbourhood Plan Advisory Committee and we were thrilled that the Neighbourhood Plan was voted in so resoundingly in May 6^th last year.
