Community Grant Recipients Announced

Thanks to all of our community organisations who submitted a request to receive a Community Grant this year. 

Following a comprehensive assessment of each application, including checks against the Grant Policy and the Town Council’s Strategic Plan, we are delighted to announce the following 2023/24 grant recipients:

  • Friends of Breach Common (£375) 
  • Friends of Westminster Hospital (£1,900)
  • Gold Hill Fair, Rotary Club (£1,000)
  • North Dorset Rugby Football Club (£500) 
  • Open House (£1,000)
  • Planet Shaftesbury – free use of Town Hall
  • Read Easy (£257)
  • Shaftesbury Abbey Museum (£1,000)
  • Shaftesbury Community Choir – free use of Town Hall
  • Shaftesbury & District Dementia Friendly (£1,000) 
  • Shaftesbury Carnival Club (£1,000) 
  • Shaftesbury Community Association, Lindlar Hall (£500)
  • Shaftesbury Cricket Club (£1,000) 
  • Shaftesbury Fringe (£1,000) 
  • Shaftesbury Girl Guides (£398)
  • Shaftesbury Refugee Group (£1,000) 
  • Shaftesbury Scout Group (£400) 
  • Shaftesbury Town Silver Band (£575) 
  • Shaftesbury Town Twinning Association (£500) 
  • Shaftesbury Trinity Centre Trust (£500) 
  • Vale Pantry (£1,000) 
  • Shaftesbury Municipal Alamsouse Charity (£3,095). 

The Grants will be used to support these local organisations with their operating costs, essential maintenance, purchasing of equipment and funding new projects.

Town Clerk, Brie Logan commented: “Our community organisations are valued assets in the town and beyond, so I am pleased to be able to award this vital funding to help with their continued operation and success. It is also encouraging to see some new names added to the list for this year. 

“We are fortunate in Shaftesbury to have such a dedicated and motivated team of volunteers who give their time to help those in need.
