Yesterday afternoon, unbeknown to Shaftesbury Town Council cones were placed along St James Street in advance of resurfacing works at the bottom of Gold Hill and Ratcliffe Gardens.
After some investigation, the contractors carrying out the resurfacing works made a local decision to put ‘no waiting’ cones out in an attempt to provide more space for the plant machinery to be delivered to site. Unfortunately, as this was a local decision made by the contractors, Shaftesbury Town Council and residents were not informed. The contractors fully understand the upset and inconvenience this matter has caused.
Shaftesbury Town Council is able to confirm that the cones will be removed by 5pm on Friday in advance of the Fringe Festival which is happening this weekend.
