It is with great sadness that I stand here today on behalf of Shaftesbury Town Council, to confirm that our beloved Monarch of 70 years Queen Elizabeth II passed away on Thursday 8th September 2022. Her legacy and inspiration cannot be underestimated.
My sincere condolences and thoughts are with the entire Royal Family, and to all who held her dear.
Queen Elizabeth ll, has been a positive influence on all of our lives. Her contribution to this Nation and the Commonwealth has been immeasurable. I know many of you, like me, wish to pass on our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family and pay our respects to Queen Elizabeth ll. A Book of Condolence will be available during office hours at the Town Hall, until the day following the funeral for all residents who wish to sign it. A space on Park Walk has been prepared for the placing of floral and other suitable tributes.
As a mark of respect the Union Flag will be flown at half-mast until 8am on the day following the funeral, with the exception of Proclamation Day.
With deepest sympathies,
Cllr Piers Brown
Mayor of Shaftesbury
