Shaftesbury Town Council bids a fond farewell to its Town Clerk, Brie Logan, as she steps down after 7.5 years of dedicated service. In her first official statement, the newly appointed Mayor, Councillor Virginia Edwyn-Jones paid a deeply personal tribute, honouring Brie’s profound impact on both the council and the wider community.
“I have worked with Brie during the whole 7.5 years that she has been with Shaftesbury Town Council,” the Mayor began. “One of her first actions was to get out into the community and meet members of the main organisations in town; at the time, I was secretary of the Chamber of Commerce and I remember distinctly thinking how refreshing and engaging her energy and enthusiasm were, how eager she was to come up with ideas.”
Brie’s arrival brought renewed momentum to many key initiatives. Among them was the revival of the Neighbourhood Plan – a project that Cllr Edwyn-Jones, along with her husband, became closely involved in. It was this early collaboration that first inspired the Mayor to consider a future with the council. “If a town council could employ someone with such passion and commitment,” she reflected, “it might be an organisation I might want to be a part of”.
Their working relationship deepened through the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in supporting Shaftesbury’s High Street and essential shops. When the Mayor joined the council in 2021, they welcomed the opportunities ahead and the potential to make a positive impact.
“I can honestly say that in the 40 years since I started working, I have never worked alongside anyone with Brie’s level of commitment, motivation and ironclad integrity. Her vision and continual drive to improve and enhance our town has transformed so many aspects of how we work and how the town is maintained – something that many, many residents recognise and are grateful for.”
Brie brought with her a wealth of experience from the private sector, having held a senior management role at Marks & Spencer. There, she was known for troubleshooting underperforming stores, honing people management and problem resolution skills that translated seamlessly into the world of local government. Her ethos of continual improvement and results-driven leadership have left an indelible mark on Shaftesbury.
“Her ambition for our town and her list of achievements are too long to recite here, but I hope that we can repay her dedication by continuing her great work. She is a truly exceptional person.”
As Shaftesbury Town Council enters a new chapter, the council and community alike extend their deepest thanks to Brie Logan for her years of service, and wish her the very best for the future.
