Mick was born in Shaftesbury many decades ago, but brought up in nearby Gillingham. A second generation immigrant from Somerset, who has lived in Shaftesbury for the last thirty plus years, he is now almost a local.

Following a career in education, he describes himself as a ‘reformed’ mathematician, having taught many things from physics and electronics, statistics/operational research and strategic information systems, to aspects of organisational behaviour and creative problem solving.
Although retired from his day job at what is now known as the University of West London, he still does some paid work as a visiting executive fellow at the Henley Business School, University of Reading.

A former town councillor of seven years, he currently occupies his ‘spare’ time between the above and going on holiday, as a trustee of Shaftesbury Civic Society and a member of the Shaftesbury Open Spaces group.”

Brie Logan

Project Facilitator

I work alongside the Town Clerk to promote and develop Shaftesbury Town Council (STC) within the local community and wider county. Within this multi-faceted role I manage the Office team, Head Groundsman and Pool Manager to ensure optimum delivery of service for the benefit of the community of Shaftesbury. I facilitate and support a number of different Advisory Committees including the Neighbourhood Plan. The Advisory Committees have been set up so that members of the community with specific skills, expertise and knowledge can help to shape the decision making within the council.

I am project managing a number of areas within the 5-year strategic plan. As each of the projects develop then more Advisory Committees will be set-up so this means more of our talented, passionate and knowledgeable community can become involved.
