Open Air Cinema Event takes off with a high flying community day

Movie magic on castle hill

On Thursday 25th July we held our community Open Air Cinema, an event envisioned by the Mayor Cllr Alexander Chase. This gathering wasn’t just about enjoying great films under the sky; it was a chance to support the incredible work of The Brave and Determined Company aka BadCo. Even though the weather threw us a curveball, our community shone brightly, gathering in raincoats, under umbrellas and even a few beach tents to enjoy a day of cinema and charity.

Cllr Alexander Chase expressed his happiness that people enjoyed the event, saying,

“It was great to be able to bring this exciting event to Shaftesbury and even though the rain meant that not as many people were out, I’m thrilled that we could do something fun for the community while raising money for a great charity.”

Behind the scenes.

The event was organised by the STC office staff, with Skylight Cinema providing three great screenings. A great big thank you to the wonderful food and drink vendors: Black Cat Catering, Fat Sam’s Ice Cream, Hidden Pizza, and Kabab Ji Syrian Cuisine, who stood by us, rain or shine. A special mention to BadCo for not only bringing the drinks, but also their volunteer spirit for marshalling the event.

Reel fun for the community!
