Shaftesbury Lido appoints new Pool Manager

We are very excited to announce that Harriet Green (some of you may know her as Aquatic Harriet) has been appointed as our new Pool Manager.

Harriet is a qualified swim instructor, cold-water and open-water coach, aquafit instructor and qualified lifeguard, so she knows a thing or two about swimming and the water! She set up her open-water coaching business two years ago and founded the ‘Couch to Bay Challenge in Weymouth alongside this.

Harriet has been instrumental in the success of the recent cold-water swimming trial, providing her expert advice and guidance to swimmers, as well as being a welcoming and friendly face poolside. She has proven to be a reassuring presence for our Lido users, especially those new to cold-water swimming.

Speaking about her motivations, Harriet commented: “I am passionate about my own swimming and am a strong advocate of open-water and cold-water swimming due to its positive health benefits, both mental and physical.

“My mission is to help get people swimming safely, confidently and competently, which includes educating children on drowning prevention. Above all, I believe that everyone should have access to swimming.”

Harriet begins her new role today, so she will be continuing to look after our cold-water swimmers every Saturday, along with our pool attendants, Alice and Adam, so please give her a warm welcome.
