Successful Crowdfunding Campaign Secures Shaftesbury Lido’s Future
The Shaftesbury Lido Crowdfunding campaign has successfully met, and exceeded, its funding target, ensuring that essential renovations can now take place. Thanks to the contributions of the local community, businesses, and funding partners, the necessary improvements will be completed ahead of the 2025 summer season.
The Crowdfunder
The campaign aimed to secure the final £30,000 needed to complete key upgrades to the Lido. This was made possible through a combination of community donations via Crowdfunder and Sport England match funding (£15,000).
The funding will allow for critical infrastructure upgrades, including replacing the pool lining and modernising the filtration system and pipework to enhance efficiency and water quality.
Next Steps: Renovation Work Underway
With funding in place, work has now begun on the renovations. The main areas of focus include:
- New filtration system and pipework – Improving water quality and sustainability
- New pool lining installation – Enhancing durability and water retention
- General maintenance – Improving poolside drainage and replacing tiles to ensure the facility remains in good condition for future use
The project is scheduled for completion before the 2025 summer season, with regular updates to be shared throughout the process.
Ongoing Updates & Community Involvement
The Lido team will continue to provide updates on the progress of the renovation work through social media. These updates will offer insight into the improvements being made.
The support from individuals, businesses, and local organisations has played a vital role in making this project possible. The renovations will help to ensure that Shaftesbury Lido remains a valuable community facility for residents and visitors alike.
A special thank you goes to the Friends of Shaftesbury Swimming (FOSS) who were instrumental in creating and promoting the Crowdfunder.
The Shaftesbury Lido Crowdfunder remains open for donations. Every penny collected will go towards further improvements at the Lido.
